Alex Heilbron lives and works in Vancouver. She graduated from the San Francisco Art Institute with a bachelor of fine arts degree in painting in 2009.
Though primarily a painter, she also works in other mediums. Her bright, playful work is influenced by Modernist painters, cartoons and trash heaps. Since graduating she has exhibited her artwork nationally
and internationally, including shows in Vancouver, Germany, France, San Francisco and Los Angeles. In 2011 Alex completed a Post-Baccalaureate program at the Pont Aven School of Contemporary Art in France and helped open two artist run spaces in Vancouver's East side: 824 Hawks Rowhouse Gallery and Franklin St. Studio. This year she published two collections of drawings; Strawberry with Oso Press, a Los Angeles based publisher, and a book called Bed with Museums Press, Glasgow, which coincided with an exhibition in their sister-space, Good Press Gallery. Alex also participated in a Public Art project through The Crying Room Gallery, Vancouver, where she painted a diptych mural on the facade of the building.
